Burkhart Fisheries Ltd is a family business that has been operating for
30 years in Marlborough and is one of the leaders in the lobster industry. The company
prides itself on its ability to produce a quality product and has used the same attention
to detail to produce quality Artemia cysts as it does with the lobster business.
The business began in 1976 exporting Rock Lobster tails to the US
market. During the early 80's Burkhart's began to investigate live lobster processing and
exporting. In 1986 it became the factory's main focus with the emphasis on quality as
always.
Burkhart Fisheries become ISO 9001:2000 in 1994, won the Marlborough
Business Development Awards in 1995 and represented Marlborough at the National Awards.
The Factory employs eight full-time staff, two part-time casuals and
other casuals as required and remains a family business. |
